Büyükeceli is a quiet coastal village 130 km from Mersin and 45 km from Silifke, located on the Mediterranean coast. There is a secluded sandy and pebble beach, divided into two parts by a small stream. The sand is golden, the water is warm and clear, especially in the morning.
Work is underway near the village on the construction of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant, which has already greatly affected the nature of the territory. Today, the main population and guests are NPP workers, including a significant number of Russian specialists. Local residents often rent out housing to nuclear workers, and hotels are reoriented towards accepting workers, providing a stable year-round income.
The nuclear power plant nearby is now the main reason why most ordinary tourists avoid this area.
However, for connoisseurs of silence and nature, it is still interesting — it is a peaceful place suitable for families and relaxing holidays.
